Connecticut Ruling Overturns Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

In his majority opinion, Justice Richard N. Palmer wrote that the court found that the “segregation of heterosexual and homosexual couples into separate institutions constitutes a cognizable harm,” in light of “the history of pernicious discrimination faced by gay men and lesbians, and because the institution of marriage carries with it a status and significance that the newly created classification of civil unions does not embody.”

“Ultimately,” the opinion continued, “the message of the civil unions law is that what same-sex couples have is not as important or as significant as real marriage.”

Good job, Connecticut Supreme Court!

Also: Rage rising on the McCain campaign trail

Some audience members are openly hostile to members of the traveling press covering Palin; one crowd member hurled a racial epithet at an African-American member of the press in Clearwater, Florida, on Monday.

And at a McCain rally in New Mexico on Monday, one supporter yelled out "terrorist" when McCain asked, "Who is the real Barack Obama?" McCain didn't respond. (The best part was McCain's rather shocked look on his face...maybe questioning the sanity of some of his supporters?)

WTG Connecticut!

I am completely disgusted with the McCain campaign for their fear mongering and their lack of publicly decrying hate speech occurring at their rallies. So much stupidity, bigotry and hatred. I truly fear for Obama and his family.
