Dog & Cat food recall

My advice (and I'm taking it): Feed a home-cooked or raw diet for your companion animals. While it won't eliminate all food-associated problems (not much will), it will limit concerns.

After Mina's bag of food is gone, I'm no longer feeding her any type of food that isn't locally produced. She will be put on a home-cooked diet. I am writing this as a reminder of my commitment to Mina's Feed Quality Control Protocol.

Ignoring quality control issues, the amount of energy required to transport grains from China to the United States for processing is unecessary. If I can buy locally grown produce, and if I can limit my impact on the planet, Mina can too. :)

That is all.

I don't know what to do about Oscar's diet. He hates the organic chicken kibble with a passion and only wants tuna cat food or the
"human-grade" stuff. I'd like to find him a local, organic, minimally processed source for his food. I know the fishing industry is awful and his beloved tuna is packed with mercury, but I haven't found anything else (aside from Tofurky) that he's willing to eat. The boy will starve himself in protest if I try anything funny.

Um, help?

I am, of course, of no assistance when it comes to the fickleness of cats.

However, I am of assistance if you need help petting or skritching Oscar. :)
