About dogs

Celeste is my Queen-Bee of non reactivity on leash. I love her for this.

Mina is my little challenge-bug. I love her for being her.

On our walk, Mina managed not to lunge while walking 50' from the dog park. Improvement! She also managed to only lunge and flip out slightly when a large Boxer walked by 20' away - no screaming bloody murder. Celeste stared off into space, unamused by our stoppage (she's a on-the-go kinda girl).

Mina is always going to be challenging on leash. Always. But it isn't so bad anymore, because *I* don't feel guilty. Sure, it has its moments of discomfort (like when the family walking by thinks Mina's freaking out over them) but it's Mina being Mina-on-leash, and that's okay. God knows I'm a little grumpy when I'm Marji being Marji-without-coffee.

I'm also working on not getting frustrated with my two bumble-butt heads on our walks, especially when they engage in the "trip Marji over by crossing the leashes" maneuver. Deeeeeeep breath - in through the nose, out through the mouth. It helps. Except when Celeste takes it as an opportunity to fling herself wildly after a butterfly. In case you didn't know, chasing butterflies is serious business. I get to tell her she sucks at those moments. She's okay with it - she thinks anything I say pretty much means "YOU ARE TEH BEST!!!" It makes disciplining difficult.

Celeste is pretty much happy with everything. She doesn't, understand why she can't say "OMG! I LOVE YOU, HAI!!!!" to everyone. I mean, doesn't EVERYONE want to be kissed and wagged at and pounced upon?
