Nearly a year ago, I went down to Mexico with Compassion Without Borders for a weeklong spay-camp (you can read a little about my experience here). The experience still haunts me, in both good and sad ways. Celeste would like to interject that she is one of the good ways. At the camp, a sickly, tiny slip of a puppy was dragged in by unkind children. She was covered in ticks, dehydrated and malnourished. The children didn't want her anymore. In honor of her big blue eyes, we called her Celeste (originally pronounced so-less-tay, now just spawn of satan).

I have never "raised" a forever dog since puppyhood, so Celeste has proven to be a fun, frustrating experience rolled up in a ball of sharp teeth and heavenly snuggles. I wouldn't trade the experience. In honor of her being here with me for a year, please enjoy this little photo montage of Miss Celeste, aka Miss Spazalot, aka Dorkwad of the Doomful, aka Bestest Puppiest Ever. I love her dearly and am so happy she integrated wonderfully into our little family (okay, just me and Mina).

Please follow the lj cut and the illustrious career of one Don't Know What to do With My Ears canine named Celeste. Lots of photos of Mina too!

Hello, I has squeaky fox toy and camo halter. I is ruler of both! - Celeste, age 2.5-months

RARW, but please don't eat me!

I win with the cute!!! - Celeste, age 2.5 months

If I cock my head to the side, will you please ignore my sharp teeth and biting ways? Please note that I broke my camo halter so as to convince my humom to purchase a snazzy, red collar (goes way better with my fur color) - Celeste, age 3 months

I live in an orange world, not a material one. Regardless, please take note of my growth spurt and also please note the awesomeness of my sister's ears. - Celeste, age 4 months

I'll have you know that this photo appears in a calendar! I'm going for the coquettish one ear up, one ear down look. - Celeste, 4.5 months

Here, I sit on my sister because she will not play with me. She is rude like that. - Celeste, age 4.5 months

Um. - Celeste, age 5.5 months

Hey! Look at me, I'm approximately five million times taller than a month ago. And my ears are way cooler than hers. - Celeste, age 6 months

I play rough and tough now that I is a big girl!!! - Celeste, age 7 months

I is also now a flirtpole  QUEEN BEE SUPREME! - Celeste, age 8.5 months

That's what I say to turning 10-months old. Neener, neener. - Celeste, 10-months

Bwahaha! I am so much taller than my munchkin of a perfect-eared sister! Take that perfect eared sister munchkin! - Celeste, age 10-months

Then there was the unfortunate period in which many a photo of my majestic self was lost. Today, my humom took some photos. Here they are for your viewing pleasure.

I know how to SMILE! Not a pit bull smile, but a more delicate grin. - Celeste, age 14 months

Whoa! Look how white Mina is! VERY WHITE! More importantly, I think my ears look way better in this picture than Mina's. - Celeste, age 14 months.

Looking forward to many more years with the ever-endearing, quirky, adorable muttskie, Celeste!

Hope you enjoyed the show!

Also, gratuitous Mina plug

I love my dogs so much it is probably unhealthy.

The particular spay camp I helped out with was outside of Chihuahua. They do a lot of work in Anapra and the border town of Juarez.

Very cool about the Humane Society of Tijuana. Spay/neuter, humane euthanasia and proper animal shelters are desperately needed in most areas of Mexico.

Happy anniversary!
She has the most bluest eyes I've seen in a dog. Very booootiful. I can't believe how much bigger she is compared to Mina. =)

Re: Happy anniversary!
She does have perdy eyes.

She weighs less than Mina, but is like 4 inches taller! She's a super model.

love the photo montage. but it still looks like she hasnt quite grown into her ears!
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:26 am (UTC)
And I hope she never grows into them - they are one of her most endearing quirks. :)

She's soooo big, I can't believe it!

Yikes. I have the same obsession over my cats... so I say it's perfectly healthy. ;)

She's like the size of a really skinny, tall building. :)

I am not alone!

*is shocked at teh huge*

*demands double doggie snuggle*

*bakes cookies* (for bribes)

She's like almost as tall as me!

With visitors, Celeste is more like a bounce off of you and the walls kinda girl...Mina, otoh, leans like the best of 'em.

Wow, she really grew up in the blink of an eye, didn't she?!?

She is really adorable. Congrats on making it through your first year, little Celeste. You are growing up in a wonderful home.
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:28 am (UTC)
I know! It's hard for me to remember how itty-bitty she was when I first brought her home.

Thank you, I'm so happy to have her with me and Miss Mina. :)

Daww! Those are some fancy ears, and very pretty eyes.
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:28 am (UTC)
Celeste is Queen Ear-Dog.

Her blue eyes are the only reason I kept her. Or so I tell her.

(((HUGS))) I can't believe it has been a year already :) Congrats on a successful puppy-raising experience and kudos for adding a sister to Mina's life.
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:29 am (UTC)
Aww, thank you! It's been such a fun experience, though Celeste was an especially easy puppy to work with. I don't know that I'd want to repeat it with another puppy, though!

I've wanted to have a second dog for so very long - it's great the perfect one found us!

More Mina is never gratuitous! Celeste is just lovely, if goofy.
Jun. 4th, 2008 12:29 am (UTC)
Mina and I agree more Mina is always good.

Celeste epitomizes goofy loveliness.

Somehow I managed to forget you got Celeste so young. Happy one year, Celeste!

Is Celeste still a foster or is she a permanent member of your family? I don't remember if you ever said. (Yes, I suck.)
Jun. 5th, 2008 05:32 pm (UTC)
Yay Celeste!

Celeste is a permanent foster, just like Mina! That way, I can always threaten them with adoption when they misbehave. It has not ceased their errant ways, but I can hope. ;)
Jun. 5th, 2008 02:31 pm (UTC)

I love your adorable ears. You sure got big in one year. Obviously Miss Mina let you eat.

Miss Mina: You will always be my ideal pit bully. I love you.

PS. Smoky, Phoebe, Lou and Pitch send nosebops, play bows, and play snarls.

Jun. 5th, 2008 05:14 pm (UTC)
Fancy seeing ya here. :)

Celeste claims Mina does not let her eat enough!

Mina thanks you for the compliment.

Lots of play bows to Lou and Pitch and skritches to Smoky and Phoebe!

I came here from petbulls, and I just wanted to tell you that this is the most adorable photo montage ever, and totally brightened my day. Beautiful doggies. :)
Jun. 13th, 2008 04:15 am (UTC)
Aww, thank you so much - I'm glad the puppers are spreading the love. :)
Jun. 13th, 2008 04:22 am (UTC)
After reading of the Adventures of Mina the Genius Pit and Celeste the Puppy of Doom for the last two hours, I have no choice but to friend you, their publicist/slave.
Jun. 13th, 2008 05:39 pm (UTC)
Celeste and Mina have a way of sucking people into their web of craziness.

Added ya back! :)
