Willow looking perdy

Willow looking perdy

I was able to get homes for all the ducks, geese, most of the rabbits and the pigeons. We agreed to take the turkey and three of the rabbits.

Willow is that turkey. She is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of girl. When she is in heat, she shuns the male turkeys and seeks out the humans. In fact, she follows you around, propositioning you at every turn. If you aren't careful, you will trip over her and she'll think you're having sex. Out of heat, she beats up chickens and runs away from people. That's just the kind of girl she is.

Hello - my name is Kasey, and I really enjoy your posts about the animals at the sanctuary (and Mina and Celeste!). I first saw you on the petbulls community, so I promise I am not creepy.

The reason I am dropping you a comment is because I am working at a college on organizing an alternative spring break for the students. I will be proposing several options for different breaks, different types of community service, and I would love to include a week with Animal Place. I am wondering if you know if twenty Vermonters descending on your tranquil farm for a week would be something the sanctuary would be interested in, or who would be the best person to contact about it. I mean, the students may pick something else, so it may not matter ... but I would love it if we could come.

Hi Kasey,
:) Thank you, I'm glad to know you aren't creepy. ;)

Here's the thing: We're actually moving next spring to a 600 acre sanctuary about 2 hours northeast of us. So I can't even say where we'll be come next spring! Ideally, in the future, what you are proposing is something we would be incredibly interested in doing. But for '09, it's probably a little too soon to try. If you haven't already, you might consider Farm Sanctuary.

And if you remember us and are still doing something similar in 2010, please, please drop us a line! I'd love to see what we could work out. :)

Ah, I couldn't figure out when ya'll were moving based on the website. But it kinda worked out anyway: when I pitched the idea at a meeting yesterday, folks were actually more interested in helping out at a shelter or sanctuary that has been hurt by all the weather down in Louisiana or Mississippi. And though I won't be at this college next year, I will leave Animal Place info.

And Mina *is* love. So is Celeste. I have a fondness for slightly crazy mutts (which is what I have). Friends?

Thanks. :) Glad they're interested in helping out the critters affected by the weather.

Yes, please! (Re the friends part, heh). :)
