Trashy young adult books for the win!

Man, I was having a serious book-reading slump. I've been trying to wade my way through different books with little success. Weeds has been on my bedside table for two months and I'm only on page 82 of 332....and I actually LIKE the book.

I realized I needed to read some silly ya book series to get myself back on track. So now I'm reading Rachel Caine's morganville series like a fiend on fiendish things.

I also grabbed M is for Magic because Gaiman is Magicalicious and therefore must be read. I'm not usually a big short stories fan but I heart Gaiman's writing so I'll give it a go. I'm sure they will be full of appropriately horrific tales of darkness and magic and all that jazz.

In other news, I publicly called Celeste my Squid Pea. She thought it was a great nickname, while my neighbors thought I was deranged. Then again, they seem to rearrange their furniture every night so I think they win the Halfhway House Weird Award. Regardless, I don't think Squid Pea is a nickname that will stick. Peas shaped like squids are full of vegetable win but squid pee is eww.

Yay books. I read Twilight which I enjoyed- New Moon, however, is not catching my attention.

Have you read The Book Thief?

Totally unrelated, but I am trying to get more involved in BSL which I should have done a long time ago. I've been doing a lot of research to make sure I am well-educated before sending off letters to reps. What would be the best way to start? Do you send letters regularly?

I liked Meyer's series alright. Quick reads, thankfully. :)

I loved The Book Thief, a lot.

I send letters only when local stuff is happening and it's usually a letter to the editor of the local paper. I used to send a lot of letters but because a good chunk of my work work is spent on legislation (unrelated to BSL but related to animals), I don't do a lot of letters on BSL issues anymore. I do spend a lot of time compiling info for stop_bsl, that's how much I want to contribute right now. :)

I think http://stopbsl.com/ is a great resource of information. Just go for it! (Whatever "it" may be for you!)

Thanks so much for the info. I was actually at StopBSL last night. It was so informative and gave me points I hadn't even considered. Very cool site. :)

I need some good book recommendations for the year! Any suggestions?
