Random work update

So I'm compiling a list of ordinances regarding the types of animals people can and cannot have in the counties/cities of California.

In Amador county, you can have frog farms in the unincorporated zoned regions. Also, a bone distiller. Just in case you were wondering.

In Calaveras County, it is illegal to let horses have sex within city limits or within 400' of any city or town. This is to protect the civilians poor eyes from the site of equine copulation.

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer: Depends on your zoning. Coastal ag (CA) and Ag (A) zones all permit livestock and poultry. They're also permitted in your RA - Residential Ag zones (something like 100 fowl/acre). You wouldn't need a permit for the CA and A zones. For the RA zones, it sounds like you need a minimum of 6,000 sq feet or larger to have a few chickens.

The city may have different codes (that's my next challenge after the counties, fun).

I'm still allowed to adopt fifty cows in Alameda, right?

Oh yes, of course! Maybe even more than 50!! If you live in the A zone, you can have as many moo-moos as you want (well, I guess within reason).
