Helping Victims of Katrina

Following is a list of organizations who have already set up funds for human and nonhuman victims of Hurricane Katrina. I have included a link to Charity Navigator and a link to each organizations site. Help financially if you can, if you can't - just send good vibes to those suffering all over. :)

A note about Charity Navigator - the database contains a plethora of information on organizational spending, room for growth, and financial information. It judges each organization based on organizational efficiency (how much is spent on fundraising, programs & administration) and  organizational capacity (can it continue to grow on current funds). A larger group may have a poorer organizational efficiency rating because it often spends more on fundraising. Key signs of a "bad charity" are those that spend an inordinate amount on administration costs (program costs should be vastly higher than any other expenditure) and those that pay their executive officer a higher percent of incoming funds.

Thanks for the links.

I thought I should pass this along. According to my local anti-BSL group, United Animal Nation supports BSL in California.

I wish I could go down and help--it looks like an awful mess.

UAN supports the current form of SB861, but none of the people who I know work for UAN support BSL (well, breed banning - almost all AR & AW groups support SB861 in Ca). I will have to talk to them and see what UAN's official position is on BSL.
